1st Kirkbymoorside Scouts TRAILJAM 2024: A Day of Achievement and Adventure

In the heart of North Yorkshire, the 1st Kirkbymoorside Scouts hosted an event that exemplified the spirit of scouting: TRAILJAM 2024. On this sun-soaked day, 54 young Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, and Explorers gathered with enthusiasm, ready to embark on a journey of learning and discovery.

The event, held at the 1st Kirkbymoorside Scout Hut, was a bustling hub of activity as participants from across Ryedale and York came together to work towards an impressive 23 different badges. The badges covered a range of skills, from navigation and first aid to naturalism and teamwork, ensuring that every young person had the opportunity to challenge themselves and grow.

TRAILJAM 2024 was not just about individual achievement; it was a collaborative effort that brought the community together. Expert badge support was provided by Ryevitalise, a partnership dedicated to conserving the natural and cultural heritage of the River Rye and its tributaries. Their involvement ensured that the scouts could engage with nature in a meaningful way.

Adding to the excitement, the Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue Team (SRMRT) conducted an incident simulation as part of the event. This hands-on experience taught the scouts valuable lessons in emergency preparedness and response, skills that are not only essential for scouting but for life itself.

As the day progressed, the weather in Kirkbymoorside remained sunny, with a pleasant 18 degrees Celsius, providing perfect conditions for the outdoor activities. The scouts were well-prepared, equipped with boots or wellies, and the necessary gear to tackle the challenges ahead.

Today’s weather, with its clear skies and gentle breeze, mirrored the bright and cheerful atmosphere of the event. It was a day that will be remembered not only for the badges earned and the skills learned but for the memories created and the friendships forged.

As the sun set on Kirkbymoorside, the scouts left with more than just new badges on their sashes; they left with the knowledge that they had taken another step forward on their journey to becoming well-rounded individuals, ready to face the challenges of tomorrow.
